Freelance Social Coordinator or Manager

I am looking for a sharp, detail‑oriented freelancer to support one or more clients through daily community management, proactive monitoring and engagement, publishing, data migration/reporting, and social project management. This contract role is ideal for a social native who thrives in fast‑moving digital environments, can confidently represent distinct brand voices, and brings both operational excellence and creative intuition to social execution.

Contract Details

  • Contract Type: 1099

  • Expected Start Date: August

  • Anticipated Hours: 50-70/month

  • Rate: $35-55/hour based on experience and contract scope

  • Location: Fully remote within the United States

  • Schedule: Must typically be available during standard U.S business hours and able to perform community management daily (weekdays)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across assigned brand channels.

  • Manage internal and client social calendars, shared client folders, response matrices, and other digital environments. Maintain a clean, organized workflow across multiple brands and calendars.

  • Schedule/publish content across social channels.

  • Pull analytics data into reporting spreadsheets.

  • Troubleshoot platform or social tool issues, flagging bugs, outages, or unexpected platform behaviors that may impact client social accounts or workflows.

  • Maintain and adapt to distinct brand voices, tones, and response frameworks.

  • Identify relevant creators, conversations, and trends for proactive engagement.

  • Surface community insights, recurring questions, and sentiment trends to internal teams.

  • Stay up to date on platform updates, algorithm shifts, emerging content formats, and engagement norms.

Additional Responsibilities, Based on Experience

  • Analyze social media performance data and create comprehensive, actionable monthly, quarterly, and campaign reports.

  • Train and optimize social listening queues.

  • Analyze social listening data to provide content and engagement recommendations.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years managing social communities and channels for a brand (agency or in‑house).

  • Ability to manage multiple brands, voices, and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn required. Facebook, X, and Threads preferred.

  • Previous use of a social media management tool such as Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, or a similar platform.

  • Strong understanding of platform engagement behaviors.

  • Skilled in using AI tools (i.e., Copilot or ChatGPT) for research, voice guidance, proofreading, content ideation, etc., when needed.

  • Ability to quickly learn new tools, workflows, and brand guidelines.

  • Ability to work independently, with strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Clear communication and reliable follow‑through.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • If you have less than 4 years of experience, prior work as an independent freelancer or in a fully remote agency environment is highly preferred.

  • B2B and B2C experience.

  • Experience supporting technical or complex industries (technology, manufacturing, industrial, utilities, robotics, etc.) is a major plus.

  • Sprout Social use for community monitoring, publishing, and data management.

  • Social analytics and listening (not required, but may expand your hours if you have the experience).
